Rear end noise [insert joke]

Okay, all joking aside, when cornering right the bugeye is nice and quiet. When cornering left, I get a rubbing noise out of the rear end, or at least it sounds like that. Its almost like a metallic rubbing noise, like a bearing, or ? Any thoughts on what could cause that when loaded up one way but not the other?

Does it have the later style drums? If so, I'd guess the brake drum is rubbing on a backing plate.

It does actually, good call! I'm assuming tweak the backing plates to clear?

Edd,
If it's the brake drum rubbing just remove it and grind it down a little. Easy to do by putting the car on stands, reverse the drum on the axle and use an angle grinder to remove metal while the drum is turning.

Okay, I'm feeling a bit bad about asking this, but is there a trick to getting this drum off? I took out the two bolts and that sucker is on there! I went around the circumference of the drum and tapped it with a hammer to break it loose, and nothing, it won't budge. There is a very small recessed phillips head, but I don't recall that holding the drum on. Tips?

Looks like everything is off that would hold it on, does it rotate? The parking brakes not on is it? I like to use a BFH, rubber or plastic and hit it from the rear while using a big screwdriver to pry it off.

Yes, its spins freely, braking brake is off. I was prying it a bit between the drum and the backing plate, but no movement. Maybe I just need to be more aggressive with it, and a BFH

The recessed Philip's head hold's it on. Or rather a 'pozidrive' screw. Also loosen off the brake adjustment plenty.

and it is likely `rusted`lightly to the hub - hit it harder

and I hit it harder, that was the remedy. Turns out its rubbing as suspected. I hit the drum with the bench grinder, helped, but not consistent enough. I'll take to to a machine shop and cut a millimeter off. Thanks for the help!
