My photo shows the left one - upside down - so shoes are backwards....soon's my camera battery charges, I'll take another photo.

now, that is how they are supposed to look! Nice job. How is it to mount with all of the brakes in place? I know it is a pain to install the brakes when the hub is on the car, but I was worried about sealing up properly.

Don't know yet...my differential is in pieces...we're replacng all the bearings, etc. in the 3rd member along with the hub bearings & oil seals....at the same time, I'm painting the differential case itself...figure I'll be ready to put everything back together in a week on so.

Don't you just love when finished parts start lining up the workbench, ready to go on? I just don't like it when too many parts get stacked and I am waiting on 1 piece.

OK, old thread ... but does that bottom spring go behind the brake shoes? I was just looking at mine, and it is in front with no ill affects. I think.

It is supposed to go behind. But, if the shoe fits....

Hmmm... Ok. My bottom spring looks different too. Maybe a PO job. I just put it back the way I found it. Over 15,000 miles that way.

Ok I am going to be doing my rear brakes in a few weeks. (when the 6 feet of snow melts here in Canada)

Can somebody post (rightside up) 2 pics one each of the drivers and passengers side. I have never done rear brake on the midget before and I have read where many have got the backwwards aand upsdie down..

And the scary "before" shot, with the lower spring on backward, and the whole assembly bathed in diff oil.

The problem with the lower picture goes beyond the bottom spring. The shoe on the left is upside down.

Heh, yes... it's a miracle I made it back home from CA to Ontario, with brakes like that!
