A couple weeks ago Jack mentioned my garage progress in a post here on the Spridget Forum; I suggested at that time that I’d post here in a new thread when I had completed a couple final tasks, namely applying the UCoat-IT epoxy floor finish and installing the cabinets. Well, I’m happy to say…IT’S DONE!
The garage project started the second week in January of this year and finished this week…I’m now “moving in”. It is not a large garage, measuring 24’x24’, but it was purpose designed and built. While I primarily had my LBCs in mind, I also wanted it sized to accommodate my full sized pick-up when needed.
Features include an attached compressor room (4’x8’) on the back, a two-post lift, thirteen foot ceiling, epoxy floor, cabinets, heavy duty shelving, a separate power feed, meter and 200 amp breaker box, abundant lighting (15 - 48”, four tube fluorescent fixtures), wall mounted shop vac in the detailing bay, two 8’x10’ roll-up doors, and air conditioning (25,000 BTU).
With the Midget in one bay and the TR3 in the other there’s still room for a couple stools in the sitting area near the fridge…when friends drop by. This fall I’ll be running cable in for TV and Internet connections.
This garage is intended primarily for car storage, routine maintenance, detailing, and hanging out. My existing two car garage, the dirty cluttered one, will continue to be used for heavier reconstruction work including all grinding and welding.
