Amusing to see dealers getting carried away and spouting nonsense.

Having said that I have to say this is a stunning looking car which I wouldn't mind owning. I assume whoever did the recent restoration is guilty of putting the spears on backwards. Denis Welch aren't going to make that mistake. No price mentioned so that means it is going to be very high. Probably ÂŁ65,000 and up.

I guess that is sort of like the Healey five-speed transmission prototype that I just happen to have in my 100?

Yes I am racing at LRP this weekend in group 5 with the sports racer--I was there yesterday and will be there tomorrow. I am parked in paddock A about 2/3 the way down to Big Bend in the center. Hope you will be there tomorrow--if so please come by.

Sorry, Michael. I was only there for yesterday. Looks like it will be a beautiful weekend. Saw some nice Healeys, got Burt Levy's new book signed by him, passed on the long line to talk to Stirling Moss and spent a great day with forum member David Townsend. Couldn't believe they paved over the A & B paddocks! Stay safe and have a wonderful weekend.

175/185 HP at the flywheel? Is that all? Especially with all that trick (and expensive) high pertformance Denis Welch stuff? Doesn't a stock BJ8 motor make about 150 HP?

The stock BJ8 engine was putting out 150bhp only on the bench. In reality it only had about 130-135 at the flywheel in the car. At first glance the 175/185 does seem low but he doesn't really explain what cam it has, describing it only as Stage 3 fast road spec? And its still on twin HD8s. My BJ8 engined 100-Six was getting 160bhp with twin SUs and a DWR fast road cam. It now puts out 215bhp with a Rally cam, 11:1 compression and triple Webers. 175-185bhp is probably correct. At least he isn't claiming 250bhp like the guy selling the dealer modified 100M!
