I figure'd I'd start this one. SU pump is in the mail. Priority Mail USPS. You should have it by friday or saturday Janel. Hope you ordered a rebuild kit. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
I guess she can measure it in a couple days and then order a rebuild kit. I didn't know there was anything different about SU pumps other than pos or neg earth, and points or solid state switching.
The longer one is for the solid state pump. An external difference is the plastic cover on the end has a "half barrel" protrusion to accomodate the large capacitor, where the points type cover is flat.

I haven't ordered a rebuild kit yet. Emma is running superbly right now (just came in from an hour run) and I may leave things alone for now--I'm busy shining my hooters.

JB: It is unusual for those pumps to fail from a diaphragm problem. Usually a disassembly and a GOOD cleaning will put 'em right. Pay attention to the long rod, clean it well and the bore it travels in (pipe cleaner and some lighter fluid or other high volitility liquid). If it's the points type (doubtful from a car that new) you can dress the points with a fine (600 grit) sandpaper and refit. "Pointless" pumps shouldn't need any attention to the little printed circuit board, just a cleaning of the "throw-over" mechanism.
The points are shot on this one. I tried filing them, and got it to barely tick over a few times (outside the car hooked straight to battery), and the diaphram is probably dry and stiff - all the other rubber in this car was when I got it. Needs rebuilt, and I bet it'll work fine.
