how do you get brake fluid Dot 3 out of carpet?

Jack, if you have any scraps of the carpet left over, I would try experimenting. Brake cleaner should work to remove the fluid, but may react with the dye in the carpet. Alcohol, maybe.
I hope you have some leftovers to play with!

Is just a smallish place up high on the drivers foot well, not a deal but thought now was the time to work it out.

And yes I will use my very small funnel in the future and only a bit at a time.
 
Anything you use Jack, I would try in a small, out of the way spot first to make sure it doesn't affect the dye in the carpet! I find that 3M Adhesive remover is a good cleaning agent for many kinds of spills/stains and usually color-safe (though not always!!)
 
When brake fluid is involved, I usually try alcohol. Try it on an inconspicuous spot but I've never had aproblem with it on carpet. Not the drinking kind, that's for after the spot is gone.

For DOT-3, soap, water, and a wet/dry shop vac.

DOT-3 mixes relatively well with water by itself but the soap helps. Alcohol can help you get any lingering, deep residue.
 
Jack, just a thought, the alcohol is for you, then when you get your stain removed, and the weather cools, drain the system and go synthetic. This solves the paint and stained carpet issues.
 
Looks like a lot of water and a bit of soap does the trick.
