I was given two sets of 1275 carbs with manifolds, heat shelds and everything. I was one lucky guy.

Meanwhile my H1s are at Joes for new throtle bushing, rods and butterflys. Can't wait.

One set of the HS2s is identified as AUD266F and the other as AUD549R. What do I have? Which is the best for Miss Agatha?

Think when I go to these I will have them professionaly rebuilt, etc. These things have more outlets that need blocked off than the law allows but they are only dirty and need some new bits inside and some new gaskets along with a good blasting and polishing of the domes. I do note that one set has the vacume advance on the carb body and the other set has it on the intake manifold.

I am not ever going through this carb air leak thing again.

These carbs will wait, I hope till I get a head and a cam to go with my 998cc engine and 1275 exhaust manifold. I should think a 30HP increase will be lovely.

"""One set of the HS2s is identified as AUD266F and the other as AUD549R. What do I have? Which is the best for Miss Agatha?"""""

AUD266F and AUD266R are front and rear pair HS2 for a 1967 car. The front one might have the ported spark nipple and thiey are fixed needle and no vent in the throttle blades. This would be a good choice for use. Usually the ony hiccup is worn throttle shaft but that is easily remedy'd.

AUD549 F & R .....for a 72-74 car. These are good for parts or resale. They have spring loaded valve in the throttle plates, floating needle and extra vacuum ports....not as friendly as the 266's.

use whatever manifold seems to work the best for you. The extra holes can be plugged and massaged. there is extra HP (1 or 2) in slight manifold mods as shown in the Vizard book.

Got it Jerry, appreciate. Even wrote it down. I am not at home so no access to good data.

Himm, the possibilities are endless. Thanks again.

I would also recommend going with the 266s Jack. Any of the vacuum fittings on the sides of the carbs or on the manifold can be easily capped by purchasing an assorted set of the rubber "vacuum caps" found at any auto-parts store (such as Advanced!) /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

As for when it comes time to rebuild, Jack, I went with I believe the fellow you recommended to me a long time ago--Jeff Palya at Paltech.

https://www.paltech1.com/

He does the micropolishing as part of the process, and he did a very nice job on the carbs I sent him. Once the carbs were adjusted after install, I have had no problems whatsoever. Really nice guy, too.

Prices were right in line with any other carb rebuild, and again, he micropolished the carbs which made them stand out in my opinion.

Jack

Since the 549s are complete, pop them on, run a short length of hose between those 2 vacuum ports, 1 hose will kill both vents and it doesn't even look bad.
The swing needles are fine, it makes for longer lasting spark plugs because they run cleaner at idle.
If the 266s have solid butterflys, switch them out with the 549 butterflys or dyke off the poppet valves and solder up the holes, wire wheel the solder smooth.
I am running 549s on my 58, no problem.
PS, great to meet you this past weekend. I should have checked out the carbys but I never saw them.

Got it Frank, will do. Where do you have the vacuem advance hooked to on the 549s?

Great to meet you as well. Had a fun time. Lots of car talk.
