Attempting to retorque the Head on my 948. My manual says all three nuts should be torqued to 46 pounds. But does that include the rocker pedestal nut that takes a 1/2" socket. I took all of those up to 35 lbs so far. I'm thinking those 1/2" nuts in the center should not be torqued to 42 lbs. Can someone please confirm before I snap one. BTW those 1/2" nuts if they go all the way into the block were not at 25 lbs even. Could account for low readings on # 2 and #3 Cylinders.
Torque Settings

Cylinder Head Nuts Plain 42 Ft/lbs
Rocker pedestal nuts 25 Ft/lbs

Should be 40 and 25. Follow the pattern and tighten in even increments.

Tks Gerard
I'll back off The other nuts.

Take a close look at your threads on the studs.
I think the originals were made of peanut butter.
