# qts of oil, Capacity of radiator healey mk II BJ7

Sorry Bill, I currently don't have a manual. Trying to decide which one to order. In the mean time I wanted to do some work on the car but need data.

Actually Iam still deciding which manual to buy. I wanted to do some simple tasks in the mean time. Would appreciate your providing specs

My 3000 manual is in my garage but I'm not home right now. I'll check back here first thing tomorrow AM and if you're question's not answered I'll get my manual and look it up.

My BMC Workshop Manual (Copyright 1968) lists oil capacity as 15.3 US Pints and radiator capacity as 21.6 US pints. At 2 pints per quart those would be 7.65 quarts of oil and 10.8 quarts or 2.7 gallons of coolant.

Steve,

I noticed my workshop manual gives the radiator capacity at 21.6 pints while my BJ7 Drivers Handbook gives it as 22.8 :rolleyes2: At least they agree on oil sump capacity.

My previous reply should have noted that the crankcase capacity in the Workshop Manual includes the capacity of the original oil filter. My experience is that 6 quarts is usually close to capacity if you have a spin-on filter. Also, with a spin-on filter you should fill it as much as possible before installing it and in any event check the level on the dipstick after 5 quarts. I assume that you know that shouldn't overfill the oil. Have fun!
