Progress-new thread Monday

Yes as best as I can determine. Put as much pressure as I could, actualy my crank shaft movement seems to be un measurable, it is snug with standard thrust bearings. Oh it maybe .001 or .002 but not over that.

Surely hope it is ok, hehe will be a strange noise if not.

Excellent!! If this is the pump that was hard to prime the long fasteners would help to explain that as well, although they are always buggers to prime.

Had not thought of that, makes sence.

Jack, you are becoming one of the PACK!!!

You have been out there doing it so much they know & expect to see you now. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Holding our breath here, let us know how it's going soon.

Just now came back from a 10 mile jaunt.

No leaks or seaps that I can see. Put a paper under her to see if I get the one spot drip.

Man has been a long grind. Now need to get her cleaned up good, finish adjusting carbs and clutch, seems I still have a bit of air.

But life is good with a running Bugeye in the garage.

Thanks guys for the support. I needed every bit of it.

Guess I need to back off on the oil pressure a bit as well. I now have 75 cold and 55 running hot and 45 idle hot. Hehe. If that dosn't blow a line all is good, need to cut a bit more off of the oil pressure releaf spring.

Tomorrow, that's all for today, going out with wife to finish Christmas shoping and dinner. Might even have some wine.

Haha, she marked her spot, about a quarter size on a news paper.

Nice work, Jack. Small mark on the paper is normal -- just letting you know she's got some oil in her. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Yep, my others always did that even when new.

Tomorrow the clean up begins, got to get her back in show shape.

Well Iam glad the fix was found I'm just sad the LBC story line is over.
Hey dont worry about a spot its when it stops that I would worry!
Now get out there and leave a mark or two on some freinds driveways and the lot of your favorite pub. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif

Who said this story is over. Someone said I make too many threads so think I will just continue to post here.

Haha!! Right on /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif , I love it!!! Jack's own forum-within-a-forum!!! The only complaint I have Jack is that we need MORE pictures! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif

Jack,
So when you replaced the front gasket in your transmission you filled to the top of the filler hole and never had any leaks? Just wondering if I do in fact need to pull mine to replace... ????

hehehehehe....I did not! I only said there were so many threads on "this" problem I was getting confused.....though I am old & becoming more senile every day....hehehehe

I visited my Grandmother a number of years back, just before she passed...she was 96. During the conversation she said "Some folks say I am becoming absent minded...I don't let that bother me...I just _forget_it_!"

No leak from the tranny after I replaced the front cover gasket even with a full fill.

As far as I am concerned it still leaks too much will have a pic or two down the road so you can see. It does not run anymore but drips maybe a teaspoon full as best I can tell at this point, over nite.

Will let it drip on a sheet of metal next so I can see how much it actually is. Paper kind of lets it spread out and it is hard to estimate.

Think I need to start looking for a 948 short block so I can build another that is a real non leaker. Always had two engines in the past and was very convienent.

Anyone got a 948 that needs a loveing home and is takeing up space you need for the real projects.

Jack, dang, sounds like in my absense I miseed a bit of your saga as well. Sounds like you're back to good side of things though, Jack it also sound like you may be obcessing a bit much as well, you picky devil you /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif (that ok I'm one too) Jack I'll tell you what I tell every person I talk to about A series egine if you got it down to a teaspoon on the garage floor, you're done my friend, theres only one way I know in all my years of doing this to achieve a leak free A-series engine, and that's not put oil in it to begin with /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif Quit worrying and go drive the wheels off that baby /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif Nice catch on the oil pump bolts.

Thanks Hap, from a professional that is real music to my ears. Appreciate. I am adding a pic of the size of the drip for all to comment on.

Now if I can just get the carbs to my satisfaction. Adjusted that is.

My question: how much does that drip grow over time - send us an updated photo tomorrow, Jack....i.e.: 1st photo, 24 hours later photo for comparison

Jack,
I told you you should load that 948 I have in the garage into your truck when you were up to get the trailer this summer. I still have it...and the 10CC 1098 as well.

BUT...as Hap said, I think you ought to just go and enjoy the one you have.

If I drive either of my LBCs into the garage and there's no drip pans to dodge...I'm at the wrong house!

Ray

Jack, your oil pressure is about what my BE is running, and I've run this summer about 4500 miles with no problems. I'd keep it right where it is. Mine has no leaks(at least right now) it is possible. Your prime season is right now, we are looking at 15 and freezing rain/ or sleet. Drive the heck out of Miss Agitha. ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
