Mick- What size shoes on that beast?

They're Sumitomos (HTR H4's, I think)- 205/60R-14.

The most noticeable before/after difference on mine is the dash area.

Nice after photo Julian but I have to ask.

I swear I threw DPO Pedro's old dash out in the rubbish can. How
on earth did it end up in the car you purchased? Your before photo
looks just like my old Pedro-ized dash.

whatcha been up to? :savewave:

Been away a couple days so slow on the draw, here.

Dale: It's about that trunk. Yeah, place everything
out on the trunk where an officer can see them.
Open that thing up and you might be suspect for
terrorist or something, with all that stuff you're
packing.

I know, I know, Be Prepared.

Hi Dale,

Well, I've been brake and clutch bleeding, fitting the door toppers, fitting inner/outer door window glass seals, fitting front grille, adjusting bonnet/hood, underlay fitting, door lock fitting, rear top rail fitting, etc etc. I probably missed something. Right now I am on a mission to put everything together and get the car operational so that I can drive it around a bit. I think I'm a couple of weekends away from that point right now!

Finally I have an "after" picture, although the dash instalation is (obviously) only temporary. I've had this car for 19 months. All switches and gauges have been replaced with ones that work. The dash was stripped to bare metal, repainted and recovered. The cluster has been stripped and re-wrinkle painted. All the used gauges were taken apart and cleaned. It may seem an odd accomplishment, with the body still a foot off the frame, but I have one complete sub-assembly finished and it feels better than it looks. -And I think it will look even better when the black seats with white piping are also installed.

I celebrated with a Guiness while I took the latest picture.

Nice work, Jer. I remember the feeling when I redid the dash of the '57 I had. That little surround for the steering shaft was daunting, indeed!

Wait 'til you get to the elbow capping behind the doors!

Jer- Nice looking dash!

I never would have thought to switch out the gear shift
knob for a "trouble" light. Very innovative.

Yep - get an upholsterer to do 'em!

Actually, I think one of our forum members posted a "how-to" a couple years ago. Of course, it was AFTER I'd done mine!

He had made up a wooden gadget that he clamped in a bench vise and allowed him to work the vinyl/leather over and around the compound curves.

Just take your time and use lots of heat...

...and your choice of beverage, in moderation...

...and maybe a few expletives.
