General MG Post-Abingdon MGs

The "post-Abingdon" MGs were featured at the UML Summer Party this past weekend.

There was a nice turnout of MGFs, two RV8s, and (my favourite) an MG SV-S.

Thanks out to all of the owners who brought these cars out to display!

Here's the (one of three made) SV-S of Ron Neal. It took First in Class as well as Best of Show.

Thanks for showing that Rick! I'm not much on modern cars as they all look like a glob from a wind tunnel, but that is sharp and would be very pleased if it was parked in my garage. I thought they couldn't be registered here, or has that issue been solved. PJ
 
The SV-S is one of the few post-Abington cars that captured the MG concept.

I assume those pictured are either registered in Canada or here on the show-only import rules, as they're only about 10 years old.
 
The RV-8s were built in '93 so they can legally be imported to the US in 4 more years (federal 25 year rule). If prices hold, I'd be interested in one.

That SV-S is kind of an interesting car but the Ford motor seemed like the wrong way to go. The 4.6 is a great motor for a Mustang.....but in an MG?

Well, the V8 in the RV-8 is ultimately a Buick motor... :jester:

Joking aside, I'm going to be watching closely when the RV-8 becomes USA legal for import.

You took my bait! :playful:

Once they bought and moved all the manufacturing bits to the UK and started making them there, I always felt that aluminum V8 was truly a British engine. Especially as they have made dozens of engineering changes and refinements over the years.

The 4.6 Ford has no British heritage. It's a crate motor made in Michigan (or Canada). :rolleye:

Hey....maybe we'll be in a bidding war against each other for an RV-8 in 2018! ;)
