Possible to adapt K&N 1-1/4" air filters to 1-1/8" carbs?

I'd like to put K&N filters on my Bugeye but the smallest size Moss carries are 1-1/4". Any idea if these can be adapted to my smaller carbs?

These are very nice. Functional and pretty too. If you want to show stacks the K&Ns are a snap to remove.
They do WORK. I can hear those HS2s sucking over a loud exhaust. Love that sound.

I checked the links but they don't address my issue which is trying to find out if there's a way to adapt K&N filters for 1-1/4 SU's to my 1-1/8 SU's. K&N makes them for the larger size, not the smaller size. Wondering if some sort of adapter exists and if it would even make sense to do this.

What I was trying to suggest was that if you wanted to use K&N cones, contact Hap and ask him if he could make a set of adapters for your smaller carbs.

Doug - gotcha. Didn't catch on to that the first time. David - yeah that might be something I look into in the future but for now I've got my hands full with a total engine rebuild and the incredible frustration of getting parts from Moss that don't meet spec and end up being totally useless. Along that line, any of you have a reliable source for parts? Moss really is a crap shoot - half the stuff totally fine, the other half worthless.

So I am running a 948 with 1 1/8 carbs. The 1 1/4 filter bolt holes are very close in spacing, but they have 2 small breather holes (vs one for the 1 1/8). So you would have to fill in one hole and open up the remaining breather (see picture I placed them over a 1 1/8 carb). I have a set of pan air filters for the 1 1/4 carbs that I pan to do just that when I run the car on the road and use the stock Coopers for show. They use a John Deere 110 air filter that you can get from NAPA. As an alternative I guess you can just make your own filter plates and use what ever filter you want. AH spares in the UK has lots of good parts. If you have problems with your Moss parts send them back, they will make sure they work or refund you.

Apbos, John Deere filters? Can you give a bit more information on them... like their dimensions?

Doug
They are Napa part number 2374. My local Napa dealer fit them for me and told me they were for a John Deere 110 tractor.

Thank you. I'm going to print that out and save it for future reference ! Much appreciated.

I've used those short filters on some of my cars. They were used on a bunch on small engines. They seem to flow enough air. I did not notice a need to change mixture settings.
