So my local store has stopped stocking my usual brand of marguarita mixer. (I normally drink 1800 with the Sauza mix).

I can't stand the Cuervo stuff he's replaced it with - too sweet, too artificial imo. I just tried Mrs T's, and it's not awful, but still not the same.

It got me wondering - what do you think is the best in a bottle mixer for margueritas? Don't tell me fresh lemons and lime, that's not happening on a Wednesday night when I get home from work...

It's the stuff us amateurs use to control intake - you know, like waving the vermouth cork over the martini.

Some of us have to go to work tomorrow...

What's mixer?

Can't stand the stuff myself, always think of it as 'to kill ya'. Had some really bad Tequila experiences in high school. Good Tequila too, not any of the plastic bottle stuff. More of a single malt and grappa kind of guy myself.

No help from me on this one.

Back when I drank alcohol, if I drank Tequila it HAD to be
Sauza, Tres Generaciones, or NO THANX.

Funny how those high-school experiences stay with you years later ain't it! To this day (45 years later!!) I cannot even smell Southern Comfort without a little nausea, hehe! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/pukeface.gif

Tequilla tears me up...I avoid the stuff these days.

I gotta ask Horsemits. She gets one she and her friends call "The" mix. I just drink th' tequila. No "carrier" needed. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

I'm not a spirits drinker. For me, it's beer...good beer.

Give me a Westmalle Dubbel and I'm a happy camper. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thirsty.gif

Do you have a Trader Joe's near you? We've been using their margarita mix for awhile and like it.

I only mix it on the rocks (not blended) and add a splash of Grand-Marnier and sometimes an extra squeeze of lime.

Cheers,
John

Tokillya is it. Jose and I had a falling out a LOOOOOOOOONG time ago. Never ever ever ever in a gajillions years touch the stuff. Nooooo no no.

But, bugi, on the other hand, a nice splash of SoCo with a bit of lime juice, ice or no - and we're gooooooooood. All's good. In fact, tonight might just be danged near perfect.

No SoCo for me. Had a bad night 19 years ago - drinking pints of SoCo, Cointreau, Lime and Lemonade. The Lime and the Lemonade were there for color - and I was green by the end of it. Can't stand the smell now.

Have a similar reaction to Makers Mark. For a similar reason.

Now of course I'm older and sensible...

A glass of water is always nice!

I have one of those too.

Hi There Folks;

I was just skimming the forum & came across this "Tequilla" discussion: I had one "Educational" Expierance a couple of Yrs. back!

I was @ a yr end Bus Meeting (Xmas) in S. CA (Irvine): One of My Peers asked If I ever had a Tequilla? My reply was Never! Well; After an "Introduction & Education" on how to drink one these things; I really enjoyed It while "Sitting" and chatting! "12" Tequillas and Several (At least 6) Dewars on the Rocks Chasers"; I needed to relieve Mother Nature! Got up out of My Comfy Chair and bounced from Wall to Wall!! Barely could stand up! I had No Idea what hit Me! I was just fine "Sitting" but "Standing", "NO WAY"!!

I`m not certain Which one did it to me; Meaning the Tequilla or the Scotch (Probably Both) but Man, Was I out of it!

Moral to My Story; "NEVER AGAIN"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Regards, Russ

I'm advised "Sunkist - Sweet-'n-Sour" with Cuervo 1800 is what makes a proper combo.

7&7 ... that's the only drink I drink anymore... not counting beer. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
