Pedal Extensions

I purchased, at one of the AHCA annual Conclaves, can't remember which one, a set of pedal extensions just made for that purpose. There nothing but a length of 1/4" aluminum 4" x 1 1/4" inch with 2 holes drilled in each end. One set of holes are offset to match those drilled in the clutch pedal. To mount you merely have to remove the pedal from the car, On 100/6/3000 models reuse the spacers and mount the extensions on the right side of the pedal. On 100/4 models add spacers and use the longer 1/4" bolts (provided). I recall the kit was only about $9. Works great. Perhaps whoever made these up still has some available.

Chaps, my wife is also vertically challenged and I'm not going to give here the chance of driving my machine by putting in extensions. I have suggested that she gets a pair of those stacked boots, you know the type, like the girls in the pop group ABBA used to wear back in the seventies, but she has not taken up the advice, which is fine by me.

Bob,
May be a good idea but what if she buys the boots? She might catch the side of the heel on the brake pedal and put a dent in your machine! Maybe better to get the extensions.
By the way, my wife and I will be in London Friday morning for 2 days before going to Ireland for a week. Any advice? I'll check in again before leaving home at 11:30 EST USA tomorrow.
Take care

Take an umberella and a heavy rain coat - it rains for 15 minutes every quarter of an hour <g>

I'm beginning to question my sanity taking my BJ8 to Southern Ireland the week after next /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif

Yup
As Andrew says get a rain coat, I think that rain is due over the week end. As it happens, this week end is also the Revival Meeting at Goodwood in West Sussex, Fri, Sat & Sunday. Good old cars and motor bikes zipping around the track and people in period costumes, but it is ticket in advance only. If you fancy it, try looking up Goodwood on the web and contacting them directly, you may strike lucky. Otherwise there are plenty of places to visit in and around London, suggest a tour bus that used to have a pick up point at or near Trafalgar Square, lasts a few hours and then you can consider visiting properly a few choice places after that.
best of luck

Thanks. The umbrella is the 1st thing I packed. We don't mind the rain in fact look forward to some since we don't see much in Phoenix, AZ.
Regards

Maybe I am too late to respond to this but wanted you to know that welding is not necessary in able to make some extensions. I merely removed the pedal pad from the arm which was secured by two bolts. Then cut a piece of metal to the length I wanted put 2 holes in each end then bolted one end to where I took the pedal off the arm and bolted the pedal on the other end and it works perfect.

Those look exactly like the ones I made for Chuck and myself. I made a pair of 2 inch ones for his car and a pair for mine but since I am doing a complete restoration on my car right now I just had my wife sit in the car with the seats at mid range and set the seat rails so she could drive the car with the seat all the way forward and I can just move the seat back when I drive. But the adjusters I made look exactly like the ones in the photos. BTW Chuck yours will be going out tomorrow or wednesday. Skip

Skip,
Just got back from England/Ireland tonight and found your package. Thanks very much. I didn't see one Healey on the road over there. Guess they are as hard to find there as here. I also looked for Healey memorabilia and couldn't find any either. I will try the extensions this weekend since it is now 5:30 am on my biological clock. 1st all nighter I have pulled in a long time (my wife and I couldn't sleep on the plane back). Driving in Ireland (Nissan Micro rental) was an experience! Ireland landscape was the most beautiful I have seen anywhere!
Thanks Again,
Chuck

No problem Chuck glad I could help. I used a thin washer between the extension and the pedal on mine to eliminate the chance of breaking the pedal when you tighten the bolts. It works great. Skip

Skip,
I finally put them on this weekend and they work great! Thanks! I used a washer on either side of the bar when installing to the pedal. Great fit. You should sell them!

Hey Chuck I am really glad they work for you. When I was looking at mine this weekend I think I sent you the shorter pair yours were supposed to be a little longer than mine. If I can ever help again just give me a shout. Skip
