Paint, AH100-6 frame

I would like the car to be restored to as close to original as possible, and would welcome any help. I am not new to mechanics and body work, but restoration is another animal completely.

Did all the Longbridge cars have the piping around the "ears" of the seat? If not do you know about when or at what car no. the piping switched? Thanks for the help.
Jim

definitely all early longbridge cars like yours and mine would have the piping around the ears of the seat backs. Also the passengers seat should be bolted directly to the floor, not on adjuster rails. lots of the details of the longbridge cars are the same as the 100's.

Yes, my passenger seat is bolted down. I was curious if the upholstery kits from Moss would be historically correct for the older Longbridge cars, or the newer type??

Got mine from Moss. A before and after shot.

Just thinking, are the seat "pans" vinyl covered or painted? Mine are just painted black, but from the pictures I've seen it looks like they are covered.

Another good source to consider for the seats is John Skinner in UK. Recently installed a set for my 100M and very pleased with the seat covers and best door cards I have found out there. Seat backs were done up properly for the BN2 seat and believe that is basically same seat as your Longbridge BN4. I have used Moss, Heritage and AH Spares in the past and rate Skinner's product right up there with Heritage. www.john-skinner.co.uk BTW, I consider all the previously mentioned vendors great companies and we are fortunate to have them for our Healey's.
Regards,
Mike

If in deed the seat pans are the same as 100s, the sides are covered with a vinyl strip, wrapping over the top lip and also folded around to partially cover the bottom surface. The seam is in the rear.

Thanks, went to the Skinner web site and the kits for the Longbridge cars does include material specifically for the seat pans. Good info.

Just got around to taking the grab bar off. Unfortunately whoever put in the red interior took all of the old vinyl off, and just painted the dash black. Oh well! Since we're talking about the dash, where the washer is supposed to go is an amp meter. Are Longbridge type pumps avail. anywhere. I have a pump from a 58 but it is the newer type.

No, the longbridge style washer is not available as far as I know. If you search here for the washer pump you will see how Randy modified his for an electric pump, but still looks like the original type push pump.

As healeyblue says, they aren't readily available. I found a NOS pump on Ebay a couple of years ago but have never seen another. Depending on how much you would like an original looking dash, you could make an authentic looking one using a washer pump off most 1970s BMC cars like Mini, 1100 etc.

I can supply some drawings of the button and the bezel/nut if you are interested in going that far.

Andy.

I am, thank you. I wonder if the drawings for the orig. pumps are around anywhere. Is the glass bottle avail.? I saw one on e-bay but it didn't look quite like the orig. one.
