Hey, Jack - wanna start a new thread? :smirk:
hehehehehe

But, it really answers the question he's been skirting around the last few months!

As a woman I worked half my life in the work force......the other half I worked as chief cook & bottle washer .......when the - hit the fan I became a "woman in junk" learned & then maxamized a busness with absolutely no respect offered .......but heels & a mini skirt put food on my divorce lawyers table none of wich paid into my SS but rescued my children and provided a living. ALSO A HUSBAND...who ownes his own busniss which was demolished in 03 from Lili and who has Agent Orange from being in Quan Tri in 1968-1969 when SUPER PURPLE annointed them everyday ....... including drinking water & all other necessities.. His SS disability is less than the pension the VA have offered us. I have fought for his disability for 17 years- am still fighting, but at least every thing Agent Orange has attacked him with they provide medical care for. Out of necessity I support us with a company I developed which I can run under Terry Lee's Body Paint & Auto salvage thru more or less loop holes & Divine guidence & my own expertise & quality control as an imperative. I have no medical. My ss is not enough to pay house note & electricity. I know this isn't exactly where we started in this thread........but I know may people who were set with retirement and looking forward to THE GOLDEN YEARS. I feel lucky that I can carry the load & actually can liquidate because my true debt is small and all things & vehicles are actually Paid For. Our economy is based on sand right now- at least that is how it feels to me & there may be hard choices not just for us but our children & theirs. I did not mean this to be a rant and in no way do I want to influence anyones cou :wall:rse of action- I just know that at almost 59 years old - somewhere the Babyboomers idealized lifestyle that I really expected disappeared. Now I'll shut up.

Randi - 1967-68....I Corps...Agent Orange problems big time - right now 70% VA disabled & awaiting their final ruling which should move me to 100%....plus, Social Security Disability....plus, because I'm retired, Combat Related Special Compensation pay for my combat disabilities.......so, I know from where those feelings come!

Does LA give reduced license plates if you're 51% or more VA related (here, they're $9.05 regardless of the car)? Also, does the locality where you live waive your property taxes if you're disabled? And here I get 1 free license plate because of my Purple Heart.

There are lots of things out there that nobody tells you about - you have to find them on your own....for example, glasses, hearing aids, prosthetic shoes are just some of the things I receive free because of Agent Orange - along with all my medicine....hypertension is also caused by Agent Orange so I have my own blood pressure machine through VA....& Agent Orange causes Type II Diabetes so all my testing equipment is free through VA.....& most of us whe were involved with it will probably end up with prostate cancer - it's a given!

&, then, there's PTSD...but I don't want to go there......you know what I mean!

Plus, VA is now evaluating me for Desert Storm issues....yes, there were weapons of mass destruction used against us - I'm proof of chemical weapons attacks - & the VA is just coming to grips with it!

But, as you know, you've gotta push VA every day!

& if any of my combat related issues are a cause of my death, Jerri continues to receive payments for her lifetime.

So, I understand that there are circumstances in each of our lives that change the equations.

I posted the SSAN calculations to help Jack decide whether or not he wanted to move his business to another state or take this opportunity to finally retire.

we've conquored the battle from eyeglasses to medicine- they pay......but it's the un expected from the heart surgerys to now an inclusion in his neck that is threatening his spine & how may rejections for 100 % because they diagnoised his heart problens before his diabiates... His whole right side has lost it's strength so the motorcycle is an impossibalty- I hid the keys just in case- it is what else and when.....it is the 17 kinds of medicine he has to take everyday- it is the quality of life he planned on --it is how bad he feels and where is the joy in life that he truly deserves? Basil don't be mad it really is about retirement & the expectancy of a decent life. P.S. I'm the one with PTSD and because he was a SeaBee his disability has been stalled. If I make X amount of dollars net- they pull his pension & so far their max disability for all of his health problems is 55 % - less than the 4800.00 pension and his SS can't be additional or we are over the pension $ limit.

No, I think there's a disconnect - VA doesn't care about my SS benefits & SS doesn't care about my VA benefits....there's a limit to what I can "earn" with either but not to my combined benefits.

I learned a long time ago to find the VA Case Officer in my county & do everything through him - he's a state employee, not federal, & he's more attuned to my problems & actually fights for me!

& VA is closely watching my kidneys & heart because both are affected by Agent Orange....

Plus, because of my wounds & how they were treated in the field, I contracted Hepatitis (non-contagious)...VA can't figure out how to handle that one except to watch for kidney problems because of it.

Yep, quality of life goes downhill real quickly...it sucks! You wouldn't believe the difference in me from the last time we shared fried chicken!

Our VA guy is really kind & helpful, but because our pension is more than the disability every dime we make has to be reported & $10.00 too much reduces his pension. he is shy 3 quarters to put him in a Social security bracket that could actually qualify & pay our bills- but that would negate his pension. We can't declare our paid for assets that would cancel his pension & we have a tower (centennial) lease that pays $5,800 a year and that almost did me in . I am not allow to make any money but they will pay my medical (reinburse) if I have the proof of what I had to spend. I even have to show my IRS file to not be canceled on his pension.

WOW!! Guess the rules are different because I retired from the Army.

Tony he can't even work on our cars. The angel that rebuilt Maggie for me was such a gift. I feel bad I didn't ask for his 35 Chevy in stead of my car. But it was my one chance after all this time and I really didn't expect what he did for me. Terry's struggle with his failing ability is agonizing for me to watch.

Remember the SeaBees were "Navy" so they attribute them to serving at sea. The fact that he was at the front his entire stay -they build all the 1,000 man galley & everyother building to house the service men at the front and as it moved so did they- i was also told that if we lived in Texas this would have been a done deal 7 years ago but the fact is they want all of you to die. They poisoned so many people they can't pay for the damage- I have been deined 5 separate times and still appealed and I'm still in the system. My last letter was 10 days ago asking for documents they say they didn't get --but they QUOTED DIRECTLY FROM THE MEDICAL REPORTS. they didn't have.... I will not stop- I will help others & I will get him the respect and compensation he deserves.

I also just got off the phone with VA about an appeal claim about my Vietnam wound issues I've had in to them since July '08 & it is "Still in the beginnnig stage"!! Sometimes I think you're correct, Randi.

& I know SeeBees were where we were....when they airlifted us out to some of the mountaintops, there was usually an Army Engineer 'dozer' or a Seebee 'dozer' lifted with our howitzers so it could clear away the debris from Agent Orange & bombing runs that had made the position 'habitable' & easy to build on & defend!

Sorry about your thread, Jack - but its apparent Randi needs the space to finally have somewhere to vent.....Give her your support, brothers!

Ain't the VA fun?

Send us to war, give us next to nothing to defend ourselves(we were using Korean war vehicles in 67-68) while the ROK's we were working with/supporting were driving around in new multifuel vehicles made in the USofA..

Suffer the results of chemicals, conditions in a combat zone and have to fight for the rest of your life to get what you should never have had to suffer in the first place.

My father was a grunt lifer. Until he was exposed to some of the evidence the gummint didn't want exposed about the abomb testing in the Pacific, and the lack, no denial of treatment for those that were exposed...

Hopefully under this administration, things will improve.

I know this may sound trite, but I want to thank all of you for your service. I grew up wanting to be a pilot, Navy or Air Force. Loss of an eye at age 11 dumped that ambition into the crapper. Services all said I could join if we were at war, but I would be the last called.

I, too, hope that the new administration will improve the way vets are treated. You all certainly deserve better than what you are getting.
