OT - looks like the Volvo is out, because....

Tom,

Always looks strange to me to see a car cover on
a race car.
Did you get the package yet?

- Doug

Awesome Tom! Really cool.

Thanks for posting.

Cheers,
Tush

Doug - just got home after a 3+ week trip and say your package. Will open it and drop you a line today. Thanks!

Kevin - I only drove her on/off the trailer. Loading a race car on a Uhaul, in the rain, with hard slicks on the all four tires in the middle of nowhere is a treat, let me tell you. At one point on my second attempt the car started to spin it's rear wheels and almost skidded sideways off the trailer. Good times...

I did have another freak out moment with her last night however - I got the car loaded and home OK but when I was going to park her and actually turned the wheel, rather than just driving her straight on/off the trailer, there was a pretty severe bucking from the rear wheels.

I've never driven a car with a locked/welded differential, and it's been widely (two knowledgeable friends and the prior owner) suggested that as a race car that is what is going on here. I don't have a good history on her, so short of pulling things off her I don't have an easy way of confirming this unless putting her wheels in the air and seeing how they spin would be confirmation.

Ideas?

I suggest a burnout with one wheel on pavement and one on dirt. That would be the fun way to see if your diff is welded or not!

Also, is this car currently legal to race anywhere? I noticed that it did not have a full roll cage.

Good practical advice Ian

Probably not as is - I'm not knowledgeable (yet) on VARA regulations. I need to study up here. There is no fire suppression system either. The car's spec has been frozen as of the 1970s when it last raced, so there is will substantial upgrading required here.

Can anyone bring me to school here?

Nice looking car, Tom.

Of course, now you have one more distraction to keep you from finishing up your other projects...

So after owning the Capri for a couple of weeks now I finally got around to opening the hood.

Sorry for the iffy picture quality, was on Blackberry w.out enough battery power for the flash.
