'Mom cooked every day and when Dad got home from work, we sat down together at the dining room table, and if I didn't like what she put on my plate I was allowed to sit there until I did like it.'

That how i remember it..

Mimeograph paper...ah yes, the teacher handed out the tests on that stuff. Everyone spent the first five minutes sniffing the paper!

and the stuff you didn't like fed to the dog under the table

But at least you had a ROOF over your head! All I had was an old shoebox in the middle of the road.....

But we digress......now, back to the main topic, brought to you by Roy's Big Boy (remember THOSE!?)

I remember all but the Blackjack, and all the rest too.
Playing cards in your bicycle spokes to sound like a motor.
I lived on Jax Beach: we rigged square sails on our bikes and would ride 40-50 mph for miles down the beach in a nor'easter.
Model airplanes before radio control.
Chushman Eagle motor scooters.
Nickle cokes.

I remember when my best friend's little sister got pregnant and disappeared off the face of the earth. Why in the world would a 16-year-old move to Mississippi to live with an aunt?

I remember when water fountains outside the Dairy Queen read Colored and White.

I remember my sisters wearing Poodle Skirts.

I actually remember Zoot Suits, though they were a bit out of style when I was young.

I remember my brother, who was a hoodlum (they call the hoods today), had a Zip Gun.

I remember hopping on the back of Mr. Jack's ice truck to garner a piece of ice on a hot summer day. He delivered block ice to our house for our Ice Box.

I remember....oh wait, I forgot......

Cards on the spokes were cool...
Curb feelers were also the rage.

On a Sat. evening or after the high school game, going to the drive-in and having food delivered on trays that hung on the doors by the cutest gals in town. Or just cruise through the A&W, revving the flat head v8, then cruising main street, and mooning those you did not like.

$5 would buy some gas, and you and your gal admission to the drivein theater, then a burger, shakes, and fries afterward, and still have some change in the pocket.

Oh, and I also remember riding my bike while carrying my 22 rifle, and then getting pulled over by a cop. Not for the rifle, but because I was riding on the wrong side of the road and wobbling a bit. No ticket, just a warning, and a wish for me to get some rabbits.

Cherry Smashes at the drug store soda fountain after 5 hours in the movie next door for the triple monster special on Saturdays. Only 25 cents for the day.

Those cherry smashes were great.......so were the scary movies.

Then walking home, the college guy with the TR3 would go by and blow the horn. then the Ford dealer's son in his 57 T-Bird and the Chevy dealer in his new 4 headlamp 58 Corvette. Then along came the Edsel's.......

I really miss those days.

Did you like Steve McQueen who saved us from the Blob?

Yeah Ray, I remember that one.

I was really into the Lugosi/Chaney/Karloff flicks.

Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman and then along came Hitchcock.

Of course there were the Japanese Godzilla flicks that the voices never matched the lips or the tidal waves that rolled the model cars over.

HooBoi. THAT was a rocket to th' past.

That was an evening show.
