Oil Seal-Differential

More likely, IMO, wear/corrosion on the thrust washers for the side gears and spider gears, items 11 & 13 in this drawing.

Oddly enough, these are exactly the components that, according to legend, the additive in GL5 (and GL4) gear oil can attack.

Ray is correct. When I was having trouble with the right side seal leaking, we replaced the flange and tested it in that exact manner before reinstalling.
