having problem w low incosistant oil P in new rebuild 80B, seems to have air in system when I remove the oil feed line from block to oil P switch on fire wall, should there be air in there or a steady stream of oil...oil p takes awhile to build ok at high rps...new pump... I suspect a bad pump or leak in gaskets...all passage ways are cleaned....anyone have this problem

You are right!! There is a leak somewhere!! There should be no air in the oil!! If it was me I would shut her down, pull the engine (it only takes a couple of hours) and find outwhat is wrong!! It could be serious!! Do you think that you could have forgotten to tighten the oil pump?? You need a beer!!

A bad seal between the pump and the pick up tube will allow it to suck air.

I agree with the above...it sounds like a bad pick up tube in the sump...maybe it got bent in installation (yes I did that once...I confess)and Gary was right...a beer is would definately be in order!

Good luck
