Oil pressure pipe - gauge to flex hose P/N 2A5640

How long is this pipe? How does it route from the back of the gauge through the firewall?

Ray, on Bugsy my '68 it is a solid copper pipe not a flex hose. Mine came disconnected and I found the logical easiest way to route.

Of course this was the same line that DPO forgot to connect when he started the engine and pumped about half a quart of 20W50 @ 70 psi sideways out of the engine. Oh and BTW, the access plate for the clutch bleeder is directly opposite the spot where you connect the oil pressure gauge. I spent 2-3 days simply cleaning up the PS footwells when Bugsy first came home just to get rid of all of the oil the DPO simply left laying in there for years.

Someone will post that diagram that shows what firewall holes are for what wires, fittings, hoses, etc,

On the 1275cc engine the PO of my original (an dearly departed) Whitephrog had used a 4-ft steel braided line from the gauge directly to the block with a special fitting at the block (not the standard CAM6431 union. I don't want to use the braided line on the new Whitephrog. I believe that I have the three parts original to the car but I'm not certain.

Re: Oil pressure pipe - gauge to flex hose P/N 2A

On my '63 (different?) it's a metal line with a ferrel at the end, ends right about the solenoid where it tranitions to rubber then to block, not sure now what's at the block. Probably different on BE anyway.

Re: Oil pressure pipe - gauge to flex hose P/N 2A

Be has steel 1/8th line from the inst. throught the firewall. also a 2 inch peice on the block connected by a peice of braded hose.

Miss Agatha uses steel line the whole way.

Re: Oil pressure pipe - gauge to flex hose P/N 2A

If replacing the rubber line or braided line be sure and have the proper size line and the proper clamps, if they don't seal that line to the copper tubing correctly it makes a heck of a mess, and it will empty your oil in a hurry. Heck of a way to change your oil.

One tip I would offer, when using the 1/8" copper line, be sure to put a couple of coils into the line to absorb vibration!
