TR2/3/3A Oil Leaks

John,

I too, have a engineering degree from Ga Tech. To save time, I always buy new copper washers when needed.

Thanks, Dick

As long as you can find them, that is the preferred option. It can also stall a large project while you wait for a single new washer to arrive. Honestly I have never seen a car with so many different sizes and thicknesses of copper washers as our simple little TR2/3. Last week I re-sealed my carbs, and there were 6 copper washers of 3 different sizes just for the carbs! I have ordered many that came the wrong size completely.

I picked up a mixed pack of copper washers with the intent of using them on my oil gallery plugs but they were significantly thinner than the washer that was under the bolt. So I reworked the original washers.

Heat treatment is an are and a science.

What happened with the oil leak at the fuel pump ?...Did I miss the fix, I ask because I had one there too on my TR6 engine and the only way I stopped it was by changing fuel pumps...

You'd think so the way the subject changed; but after rereading the first post and the description of what he observed how could that be ?
