TR4/4A Oil Deflector

This just doesn't look right..
There is no key engaging this part. Do I just jam it between the sprocket and pulley?
Seems to me if there isn't enough pressure to hold the deflector in place wouldn't spin long, wear fast, and then it would be noisy at the least.
I saw a pic of a wallered deflector that was worn so bad the key notch was no longer there...
I've read some posts saying the deflector is overkill or no deflector present at tear down.
There was a deflector present when I took my engine apart but tat was last year...
Is something wrong with the placement?
Thanks in advance...
Jim

I do the same thing by over thinking. The oil thrower has got me a time or 2. I would think does it go this way or that.
Looking good

Nice work Frank getting the work done is what I like to feel. It looks like you made the piece, wow. Restoration keeps us fit—keep moving--- the car is right behind you.
