Oil Adapter Filter?

I am installing the Victoria British (Flo-Tec) adapter (without cooler connections) on my '74 TR6. The "recommended" filter is either the PH9A or PH966, neither of which I can find. Does anyone know another equivalent filter. Also, does the orientation of the filter (i.e horizontal/vertical) when it is installed? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

Fram PH3600 or equivilant are typically specified for other adaptors (Mocal I think). I have also used PH2861 on a 4-cylinder TR engine. Both are usually readily available.
