% of big Healeys exported to the USA?

I'm thinking it was somewhere around 82%. Might be higher, it was a big number.

Post WWII in England was "export or die." The manufacturers couldn't get raw steel unless they were exporting (to bring IN money to rebuild the country).

I heard 85/86%, but this was a figure thrown out about 30 years ago when DMH was coming to USA Club events.

Wow, that is a big number.

I ask, because I sent a picture of my car to a colleague in the UK and he said that he didn't know they made a left hand drive version.

The stories I've heard, was that they were pretty rare to see in the UK, RHD or otherwise.

I think your right about them being scarce in the UK. While I was in the Navy(aviation), the UK purchased some jets from us and we provided training. A couple of the chaps I trained were into Porches and not much ado about the Healey. One of them complained about how often the aircraft had problems. I got to thinking that if only he had a Healey he wouldn't complain.

I had heard many years ago that about 87% were built to North American specification, and 17% of that total came to Canada, and only about 9% stayed in the U.K.
 
Baird Foster did an article in Healey Marque magazine back in Aug 2005. He states, per Clausager, that the Abingdon production of the 100-six or 8,391 cars, of which 6,982 (83%) were LHD for North American export. Also, the 3000 models of the total production of 42,926 cars, had 35,891 shipped to North America. (these figures were based on production records).
