This is a list of about 90$ to 95% of the fasteners for the engine bay with SKU numbers from Fastenal. It includes some for the engine, motor mounts, trans to engine, pressure plate and a few others. It also includes items for the braces. You can see some of the pics I posted and get an idea of what this list covers.

This is a guide and you may want different grades than I used. Also a half dozen are 1/8 too long because there were none listed for the correct length.

Do you have a list of the sizes needed for the head bolts and or studs. I did get some top side studs from TRF, but I need to get the proper bolts to go along with them.
 
Hi Paul,

I purchased the ARP head stud kit and they are at the shop. I am going to wait to replace the rocker studs until I install the roller rockers and the same with the manifold studs until I install the third carb. I do have the manifold studs here and can measure them.

Not sure if that is what you are after?

First of all, I should not have said head bolts, but rather studs. Secondly, all that TRF sent was the studs for the rocker shaft and manifolds. I still need the head studs and nuts.

What is and where did you get the "ARP" stud kit? If I look at the detail, then I can tell. Sorry, but I never heard of them.

Incidentally, I just got a call that my cylinder head refurbishing is now completed. I hope to pick it up later today or Weds.
 
Your head got through the shop in good time. My engine is in progress and I have to go to the shop today to meet with John. He has been swamped with race engines this year and is finally getting a little caught up. The downside is that it is taking longer and the upside is that he is good.

These are in the front section of the Moss book. They may be overkill but since I am raising the compression I wanted to feel more confident.

I bought my head bolt set directly from ARP, about 40% cheaper than Moss!

They make head removal REALLY easy when its needed. Plus, they are stronger than studs. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/square.gif
 
I would be cautious of what I buy from Fastenal. They have inconsistent quality as they buy the best price they can find. The fastener you purchased yesterday that came from China may today come from Taiwan.
If you are looking for good quality at every purchase, look at another source.
How do I know? From talking to their customers in the industry.
I'm not saying they have a bad product all the time, I'm saying you never know what you will get.
 
arp head studs and nuts can be supplied by anyone,jegs,summit,etc and you will definitely get a better price them than from the "british" suppliers (sorry-but true),shop around. I'm going to replace all my bolts etc with catterpillar bolts and nuts (except head studs and rocker studs)-extremely good quality but not as much money as arp.The have their own made for them to garanteed the quality and grade (better than grade-8). Do not get stainless bolts thinking that they are better than gr8 steel bolts-they are not!

Oh....head came back yesterday. Pictures tomorrow.

Still leaning towards head stud set from ARP if I can get the number to go direct. Moss number is listed in Tom's post, but it's not good for direct buy. I think that Moss gets about $160 for everything.

Sorry Paul, but someone mentioned head bolts...

I bought them from a local hardware supplier, grade 8 socket headed cap screws and hardened washers. They are not made in the 'perfect' length so I had to buy them long and have a machine shop cut them to size. I was getting parts at cost from Moss at the time and this option was still less expensive than the ARP set (at cost). /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Nope, not ARP. I tried an ARP kit and had big problems with it. Spent quite a bit of time on the phone with the ARP tech line and they finally said send them back to Moss for a refund, and have them send them back to us (ARP). Then they gave me a special account code to give Moss for the return to ARP. That number really smoother the way for getting my refund with Moss.

Those bolts I picked up, actually... special ordered, at a local fastener supply house. Grade eight socket headed cap screws. They did need to be cut down to fit and I had a machine shop do that. Total cost involved was less than the ARP bolts. ARP most likely has some bolts that will work, will probably still need to be shortened though. Their tech line people are very helpful, at least they were to me. A lot can change in 6 years though. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
 
OK, now that I've ordered the same ARP kit as Tom, what are the big problems that I have to look forward to? Maybe I can cancel if I don't wait too long.
