Nut size for BJ8 center console trim piece

Does anyone know the nut size for the center console trim pieces? there are 6 nuts per trim piece strip. Diameter looks like a #4 but it must be a fine thread or another size since a 4-40 does not work. If you know of a source for them as well, it would be appreciated.

Are you referring to the little pins such as at item #120? Moss page: "Instruments, Switches and Dash BJ8" says they are clips, unavailable and to use your originals.

If they are indeed screws and a 4-40 is slightly too small, you could try the rare 6-40. Almost all the threads on 6 cyl Healeys are fine threads. Some 6-40s are available on eBay and from Grainger.

Suggest calling British Car Specialists in Stockton or Healey Surgeons. They should be able to help.

You could try measuring the stud or screw major diameter per chart below.

Thanks, saw the Moss / original parts chart, it does not show a nut of any kind. I had screws and not clips on my console. I found a source for a #4-48 which would be the fine thread. If that does not work, I will come up with some other scheme.

Were any BJ8 produced stock with studs and nuts? Mine has clips.

My BJ8 came with tee-head screws that can slide inside the trim piece to line up with the holes in the console. Something like this.

My '64 BJ8 Phase 1 has bolts and nuts.

My 1965 early phase 2 car (one tail / directional light but other phase 2 stuff) had the nuts and threads. Maybe they switched to clips for later phase 2 cars. Makes sense based on how fiddly it was to get the nuts back on.
