Got this box in at work today, so I know what my weekend project is going to be!

Came about when I was looking over my radiator hoses a month ago or so and saw that one of the brackets had let go on the radiator and was no longer connected (corroded at the top of the radiator). Was going to replace all the hoses anyways, so decided to just bite the bullet and do the radiator as well.

I'll follow up here with how the process goes. Almost certainly overkill, but I do deal with high temps and steep grades here, so figured it was worth it.
 
I'll be interested to hear if it makes a difference.

I just started on the radiator for my TD project. It looked OK casually, but on close examination there were some problems. One is that, apparently, MG used a felt pad between the lower radiator reservoir and the mounting bracket. So, of course, that is now all rusted. I may have to fab a new bracket somehow, and I probably should get the old radiator recored. I wonder if anyone makes an aluminum TD radiator?
 
Drew, how many mph will your new radiator give you??? :smile: Box says it's a racing radiator so that must mean more mph, yes?? :D Pics when you're done please!
 
Peter, I can only wish that this will make any speed difference. It will feel faster, though, and the MPH of cash out of my bank account has certainly accelerated. :smile:

Will definitely post pics and process when I get a moment to dive into this. Truly overkill for my situation, but since I was going to have to replace or repair the existing radiator anyways I just couldn't resist.
 
Drew, before you take the old rad out, you might want to do a rad flush. Then it hopefully cleans the block a bit, and, if there is any residue it should be in the old rad.
 
Planning on doing a flush of some sort -- does that usually require having the car in running order or just some external water pressure?
 
I think running order though with it apart you might be able to get at engine interior.
