Most recent pictures are near the end of the 'album.'
((so much for dove grey looking like shiney primer!))

All body work is done, driver's door acquired and ready. Primer's on the outside of the car (paint in 8 days). Tranny (I know, I know) is cleaned up, engine was picked up from the machine shop today, header, block, crank, all pretty and nicely wrapped in plastic. (got to start building that thing right away or we're going to have to get oil all over it).

Not sure if the price is good or not from the machine shop. I really don't care at this point. Here's what he did (Chuck P&P'd it himself)

hot tank block
bore & hone block .040 over
install cam bearings
clean & polish crankshaft
balance short block
clean & check rods
install pistons
resurface flywheel
resurface exhaust manifold
valve sob - clean, check, grind valves and seats
assemble head with new valve seals
install intake and exhaust seats
resurface head
press bushings & hone to size
$700

I also have an alternator and it works and Emma runs (tested at 14.19)

Life is good.

Jaybird: learn about "PlastiGauge" and how to use it. Assembly of the "heart" of Binabox should be a joyful, enervating and educating experience. This is beginning to get exciting.

...& it should not be rushed...go down to Harbor Freight & buy an engine stand...put it all together using Plastiguage, take it apart, clean it, lube & put back together!

Have fun with it!

I don't need no stinkin' engine stand, I got a perfectly good, solid oak table inna house.

OMG, I'm talking like Doc.

Oh, you're not planning on attempting to put that overdrive in Binabox, are you?

*snicker* solid oak... that ought to be good-n-sturdy enough to build the engine on... but might make getting it to the car a bit of a pain when the time comes...

I've got a 100+ year old solid oak table that I rebuilt a motorcycle engine on!!! They work really good /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Use lots of newspaper, and maybe a sheet of plastic under that if you like the finish on the table though.

I'll move the table to the garage.

Tony. Don't go there. Trust me, you do not want to go there. Think alphabet. Think one specific letter of the alphabet. Think L.

Besides, let me think, how exactly did you put that earlier today? Something along the line of letting go, stop bickering, let him build it the way he wants? Just don't talk to me about the overdrive.

Well, that tranny won't go there either! Not without lots of work - & it begins with how you build the engine...think different flywheel, different starter, different spigot bushing....& that's just on the engine side.......we won't even talk about body mods!

The beast will be close to 300 pounds when assembled, Janel. You'll need to access top and bottom simultaneously... it's gonna be a task without a stand. A real task. They don't bounce well either, BTW. It CAN be done, but you AND dahubby are gonna either bond as a working team with this experience or you're asking the rest of us to become "accessories"... I'd prefer we keep things non-lethal, non-complicit. Engine stand GOOD. Tossin' an MGB engine assembly around on a table BAAAD. Better to use the floor. At least that way gravity has less chance to get well into it, you can wrassle it about without fear of losing digits.

alphabet.... you know... the alphabet has NEVER been the same ever since I saw a certain Sam Kinison stand up skit in my youth...

Can't even say "alphabet" without smirking anymore.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

and the fact that there's a table in the mix now makes it even worse!!!!

Care to share Noonie?

Doc, we don't 'have' an engine stand, but we're borrowing one.
