My neighbor has always been a bit envious of my TR3.

So today he tells me he just got himself a ...

1993 Alfa Romeo 164.

What am I missing? I realize my genetic development ended somewhere back in the Pleistocene Age, but what is it about an Alfa 164 that someone would like?

Puzzled in Connecticut. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif
Tom

Tom,
It would not be my first pick, but I could have also seen me buying a Datsun 510 Wagon, or an Audi Fox, or a BMW 2002 tii if I had found one of them first in great condition. Or maybe a Datsun 1600, or an Opel GT, or even a Bugatti type 57(like in the new Hemmings Sports and Exotics magazine). The variety of the cars at a car show make it more interesting to me. They guy I bought my car from prefers Morgans or Lotuses or even MGs to the Triumphs.

I'm with ya, Tom. Totally uninspiring cars. Stuff on the interior falls apart, they need much more 'fussing' with all the "wonderful" junk loaded on 'em.

feh. Just another cheezy Euro-trash econobox, IMO... And I ~LIKE~ Alfas. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

My ex had a Alfa Spider. In the right conditions, they could be fun. I'm not sure wich required more maintenance. The last time she drove away in it, I was happy to see them go. Generally, I really like sports cars... And women.

The alfa sedans are boring IMO.

My Spider is a completely different animal than the later cars. The 105 series Alfas were great. Even the Berlina was a hoot to drive, IMO.
The newer ones (164 et-al) wound up being overpriced Fiats. Right down to the interior fittings. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

When they went to the 1800cc "Variator" widget and EFI, the soul was built out of 'em.

Just one Alfisti opinion, y'know.

Those old Alfas use to chew us up in C Sedan and then GT3

Helped campaign an E-Prod Spider back-when. Loads of fun!

Tom,

I think that he snuck over the RI line and was drinking some devil dew from the stills hidden in the back woods. Had to be drunk to do something like that...

I must admit that there are times when I think about picking up a Giulia GT Sprint, preferably a step-nose. But then I think a Herald convertible would be soooo much cooler! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Bill, I've a step-nose inna back yard. Unfortunately a TREE fell on it. But it ~could~ be a GTC with a bit of judicious knobbling! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Don... DUH! Summit and "The Ledges" were home courses.

The ledges that brings back some memories. What decade was it?
You must ov run quite a few times at Pocono.

From the late '60's into the late '70's. With a four year sabbatical for USAF time.

Probably were at the tracks at the same time early mid to late 70's. still remember being at the track when they announced Peterson was killed in his Lotus.
