I never knew there's a huge market in collectable "box-fresh" sneakers aka "trainers". The Nike "Back to The Future II" training shoe has an average resale price of $32,275. (I presume that's for a pair). Take a look at www.StockX.com - good grief! Some, like this Nike, are made only to be collectable.

This sort of thing makes the LBC hobby look absolutely rational.
 
Yeah, even a 1971 Porsche 911E can't outpace some sneakers.

It's thoroughly disgusting but th' reality we're living in.

...let's see if those who think a pair of synthetic shoes might keep 'em alive so they can cook 'em for sustenance. :smirk:
 
It's funny(or not) that when you go to buy
a pair of "Tennis Shoes",they ask - "do you want running shoes,
jogging shoes.....?".
 
No kidding. And hearing that kids will shoot each other to get their $500 Nikes - ridiculous, and sad.

Remember when folks wore these in gym class?

And - Keds? Canvas shoes with quiet rubber soles - which made us all into "sneakers".

I think we had contests back in high school - who had the stinkiest gym locker.
 
I remember my mom lamenting how expensive my first pair on Converse sneakers cost.... back in '65 they were $8!
 
Elliot - if you were in HS in 65, do you remember the "Indian Madras Plaid" thing? Boys and girls all *had* to have something like this:

Loafers, ivy-league khaki pants with the buckle in the back, and a madras shirt. We were IN!
 
Tom, back in '65 I was still in jr. high school but I do remember those styles.
 
'65 in jr high? You young whipsnapper!

Our class project (!) just prior to graduation day, May 1966, was to steal a young alligator from the city zoo, and put it in the fountain outside the principal's office.

What a foul and depraved lot we were.

Oh yeah! ANYTHING madras - shirt, pants, shorts, sport coats. White Levi's. And Weejuns!

I sit in khaki's, Sperry Topsiders and a "Hawaiian" print shirt RIGHT NOW. All th' Madras shirts have disintegrated... :smirk:

Successful?? If so, were there any lost finger/toes/limbs?

Ahh... the gold old days before our frontal lobes were fully developed!!
 
Sorry - GOOD old days. (In the current days we can't even remember how to spell, much less tie our shoes...!)
