"Run faster, jump higher!" I remember the commercials.
Never had 'em, was either in laced shoes or barefoot (in the summers) as a kid. Hated flip-flops. In high school it was penny loafers and later went to Topsiders. Now that we're more 'sedentary' I've acquiesced and flip-flops are acceptable.
The whole "star power" expensive sports shoe thing escapes me. But I s'pose the "stupid old little cars" thing escapes those who aspire to those shoes. feh.

I honestly don't remember what shoes I wore in High School. Probably just some sort of tennis shoe. However, shortly after graduation I clearly remember what I wore :wink-new:
Started playing tennis back in the 1940s wearing Converse Jack Purcells. Cost $10 a pair. They lasted about a month. Then in the 1970s, the Swedish leather Tretorns came out and revolutionized tennis shoes. They actually lasted a few months and led the way for all we see today - Nike, Adidas, etc.
