No Oil Pressure Up-date

No Oil Pressure Update

Have ordered a new pan gasket and a pre-lube pressurized kit. After removing the pan, it appears that there is a pathway that runs from the oil pump to the oil filter. I assume that if the filter is removed, I will be able to inject oil into the new oil pump by using an oil can to pump oil into the block via the filter galley. Is this a good assumption?

Will I be able to register pressure on the oil pressure gauge
by rotating the engine using the starter motor? I really do not want to start the engine without insuring that I have pressure.

New question: How in the he-- do you remove the large brass drain plug from the overdrive if you do not have a proper wrench? I wrapped the plug with duct tape and tried using a pipe wrench, it would not budge.

Will keep you informed as to the starting progress when the necessary parts arrive.

Thanks again for all of the outstanding advise, I really do appreciate your taking the time to respond to my questions.

Re: No Oil Pressure Update

HI ray sorry you are having so much trouble. Yea if the battery is well charged up you should be able to see oil pressure using the starter.Take the plugs out will help. With regards to the OD Drain plug. I use a brass drift set in the corner of one of the notches and a hammer will generally loosen them. The Pipe wrench might work too if you whack it hard with your gloved hand.--fwiw---Keoke

Re: No Oil Pressure Update

Keoke,

Thanks for the input. Will try the brass drift approach and see what happens. When I drained the tranny the oil was definitely very dark. Think that I will fill with regular motor oil and drive until the oil is warm, that is if I ever get the engine running, and then dain and fill with Red Line MT 90. What weight regular oil should I use to flush?

Thanks,

Ray

Re: No Oil Pressure Update

Ray, Regular 20-50 motor oil should be ok if you want to flush the OD.---Keoke
