Wonder if anyone has experienced this.
Tried to start my 2011 Altima this morning. Dead in the water. System doesn't realize the fob is there. No reaction to any of the fob buttons (locks, alarm, etc.). Dash panel has a flickering "security system" icon (silhouette of car with a big key), which is constantly flashing - even when the fob is back in the house. You can even hear a faint "clicking" or buzzing sound in the dash panel which matches the flicker of the security icon. The icon flicker isn't regular - more like a loose wire or failing circuit somewhere.
Tried the back up key. Same non-result.
Tried the recommended "dead fob battery" technique of sticking the fob in the emergency slot under the steering wheel. No change.
Fob batteries test strong. Seems the problem is the car, not the fob.
Car is still under the original 36 month 36K mile warranty - but I can't reach the dealer until Monday morning.
Any suggestions or similar experiences?
Thanks.
Tom
