Nissan Engine Question

I have an engine, and I wondered if it would be of value to any of you Spridget owners.
It is a twin cam 240 SX 4 cyl from an early '90s car.
It comes complete with a wire harness and computor.
It has a standard flywheel attached and an automatic trans as well.
I DO NOT know the condition of this unit as it was given to me.

I wondered if this would fit these cars.

It is too big to ship (I think) but I will give it to anyone who wants to pick it up.

I'm gone all day today (Sat) but will be home this evening.

If you think it's good, great, or if it is a boat anchor, tell me that too.

I think it would be perfect for a big Healey, either a BN-1 or BN-2. It would replace the original 4 cylinder Austin bus engine with something more modern. It would probably weigh less than the original engine too. Too bad it doesn't come with the Datsun 5-speed. I had a Datsun 240SX from the early 80's and it had a 4 cylinder SOHC engine with dual ignition, 2 plugs per cylinder, big valves, and the cam was driven by a chain not a rubber belt. That thing just ran forever.

James, you had a 200SX, not a 240SX. Yours had the Nap Z24 engine and IIRC, the 240sx had the SR20DE which is a really good engine. Some of the Z cars guys are pulling the six and putting the SR's in. They're alittle big for Spridgets, but can be made to produce stupid ammounts of power. They have a really good following and lots of support and aftermarket parts.

It's not a bad choice for a swap, but it will take some doing.

You are right it was a 200SX. The engine and transmission were still good long after the body had gone to rust.

I had an '82 200SX I bought used with 78,000 miles on it. Sold it with 360,000 miles on the odometer and still running strong. It would eat alternators about every 50,000 miles. Oil changes, air filters and a couple of spark plug replacements and that's it. Believe me, I'm a big fan. 5-speed, lots of power, fastback, sunroof and all the bells and whistles. I did disconnect the voice. Remember? "The door is ajar."

It was the transition year where the left side of the back of the car had a Datsun badge and the right a Nissan badge. And those funky rear window louvers. Loved it!

If I ever run across a decent one again, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
