You may be right, Bob....but remember, if you have an early OD main shaft, you can hang an OD unit on a standard transmission....& out in my garage are about 6 OD trans, 1 or 2 being early....standing the early ones next to the standard earlies doesn't show any difference in shifter location - gazing at them side-by-side.bob67bgt said:Tony, I think the overdrive had the shifter coming out of the hole in the tunnel further back than the non O/D cars.
