Newly sealed Gas tank - Pics

I cut the 1/16" steel plate on my waterjet. I thought that I posted that and that is what had TB's curiosity up. The waterjet. It's a great machine!

Yes all of the caps & plugs were to keep the sand out. Ex-plumber too so the jim cap is just sitting in some bins at the shop.

Oh.

don't know what car this is for but older MGB's rust out on the top of the tank so POR15 is a good bet to do the outside. Found this out when I took the tank down on my '69 anf found someone had crudely repaired it with fiberglass. Of course tried to clean out the interior which is when I found that in '69 they do not put a fuel filter on the car. HaHa

I think that is why the DPO replaced it. It rotted from the top down. Looks like someone filled the small rust holes in the trunk with black a clay/putty and then sprayed the entire area with under coating. Underneath as well was sprayed. I'll address these small rust spots later. Right now they are sealed so I'll just leave 'em be.

yes rings a bell. Evidently the road spray would find its way between the underside of the trunk and the top of the tank and sit there. i put the new rubber spacers on and found I had to grind off some of the excess glass to make the tank fir right. And all because I wanted to fit a new sending unit.
