I ultimately want to convert to disk wheels as wire wheels are a pain but that may not be till the summer.

Wire wheels are cool, but do what you must.
Do you know you have to change out the hubs all around and the rear axles and all that? Just in case you didn't know...those wheels mentioned above would be the way I'd go if I didn't love my wires.

I agree wire wheels are cool but a pain to clean haha. I just got new tires today and did the balance and the ride is night and day. The wires i have on the Midget are rough but they will do for now.

Luckly I have a complete rear axle but I need to source front hubs so i can do the conversion. But for now I'll enjoy the wires

Wow looks like the PO really went to town on stripping & re-painting.
I agree the stripes look great & give it the racing look. Looks like it's been re-wired with new fuse box? Hope you're aware there's a pipe missing, fresh air intake from the front of the car into the heater blower. Without this you'll get engine fumes in the cab.
Wire wheels: I wouldn't unless you like polishing. They also flex on hard cornering so you'll loose a bit on handling. With the looks you have already ( a bit modern). Some shiny alloys would finish it off a treat & those bolt on minilites as suggested will do the biz.
Happy motoring.

Thanks.

Yup the PO added the modern fuse box. I dig it  As for the air duct tube I went to the local hardware store and got a dryer tube until my order from moss arrives.

If you give that dryer duct a quick coat of flat black with a puff-can, it will even look pretty close to original to the casual observer!
