Sounds nice. Do you have a wideband oxygen sensor? I'd be interested to know how the car runs at speed vs idle (mixture wise).

Nope, no O2 sensors. All I can say is it loves WOT. In the video
I can't do a full pedal mash....without load it just revs so dang quick that a slap at the pedal sends the tach to dangerous areas.
Under load on the road it is VERY responsive with a steady
pull to 7k plus. Power really comes on past 5k with a nice swell around 6k. With the 4.22 rear gear, punching the skinny at 55 mph is a HOOT even climbing hills.
Just an old school A-Series hot rod.
More fun than a barrel of monkeys.

Howdy David,

She really sounds "Great"!

Why does she sound so much "Meaner" than before? It can`t be the Carb change; Could it??

Are you sure you have a muffler under there somewhere!?!??!?!??!

Bring her over so we can take a ride up "178".

See Y`All Later,

Russ

PS: Danielle & I are going to the "Apple Fest" in Hendersonville this AM around 10:00-11:00. Want to tag along? Great parade of cars of Today!!

Russ, the new carbs did in fact make it louder. It has the
same ss exhaust system you have seen/heard before.

David,
Can you post a close up pic of how the heater flex pipe terminates and lines up to pick up the fresh air intake behind the BE Grille. I've never seen that piece on any Spridget I've ever looked under the bonnet. Either they rusted out quickly or some sort of gremlin collecting those things. I've been trying to figure out the routing of that hose for the past 10 years. Looks like you've got it right.

I'll take you a closeup soon. All that "holds" the air
intake tube is a loop done as a clamp around the pipe
and attached to the inner fender. Just slips over the round grill intake. Simple.
I stuck one of the wife's fancy black sock thingies over the
intake entrance. I think you can see it in the walkabout video.
I'd take a pic now but I just got through post-ride detailing the ol Lady's MGB after a nice drive to Asheville. I'm
beat!
I'll snap what you need tomorrow.

Edit: One of the funnier things I've heard more than a few times is "Is that some kind of turbo?". I like to say "Yes,
but it's just for the heater.".

That things sounds mean! Can you tell me more about the build you have done on the motor to attain that kind of throttle response and high redline?

Also, What size wheels/tires are you running? I have those same tires on my daily driver and they hook up amazing!

[I bought it built. Just a basic "warmed up" engine. Better head, pistons, cam, header, ignition and carbs. Alloy flywheel and harmonic. ARP. Basic stuff. The high "redline" is just me over-revving.]

[Wouldn't recommend these 185x55x15x5.5s for others. They are
serviceable for my purposes.]

What kind of problems have you run into with those tires? Too wide or too tall?

Both. Speed bumps at speed cause them to rub, slightly, the fenders.
The height, combined with my lowered suspension, combined with their width, equals a rub.
Not really a problem. I just keep an eye out for bumps and dips in the road.
They don't rub otherwise, even when hard cornering.

Thanks for the info, I'll keep that in mind. As for your radiator, what kind is that, and are those oil cooler lines I see running to it?
Sorry for all the questions, I am a newbie, and your car is much like how I want mine to be one day.

It sure looks straight forward enough.
Hope this helps.

David,

Got more work done on my 62 (948) sprite in a few days after viewing your video than in the last 6 months. Thanks for posting it!

BTW – is it a 948 or 1275?

Thanks,

Carlos

OK it is the oiece supporting the bottom of the hose I'm looking at. Factory or a make it yourself piece, And does it line up with the opening in the bonnet for the fresh air intake?

Beats me. It sure looks factory and it does line up
hence the hosiery I put on the end to stop the bugs
getting in while going down the road.
