TR5/TR250 New TR250

The clips that hold the interior door panels on, I had trouble getting them to the right spot because many times the folded over and stapled in the way of where you really wanted the clips to go, had to trim it back here and there. The bolts or studs sticking out of the crash pads I got from TRF did not match the holes in the dash. It is a pain to put the door handle and window cranks on with those springs and darn little pins, has been discussed here before. But overall not too terrible.

Tinman, I did trim the foam so the seams matched up. Although in the end, the vinyl stretched so tight, I am not sure it made a difference.

A couple days ago we finally received the Mikuni carbs. Put a few gallons of gas in the tank, checked for spark, coolant in the radiator. My wife got in the drivers seat turned the key and after a little adjusting she fired up after 30 years of sleep. The smile on my wife's face was so awesome.......Let the engine run for a breaking time. We added brake fluid and need to address a leak this morning. There are a couple other things also( fuel gauge not registering correct) (lucas smoke coming from the back up light switch under the trans cover). Today should be the first drive. But first I have to install a new water softener for the house.. Then the 250 .................................

Dan,
I am putting a Mikuni on my Mini, any tips on installation or problems that have come up? I am using the 45mm for a 1380 engine. Hope that is enough, but they usually put that carb on a larger Harley engine so I think it will work.

The biggest problem that I had was getting them. I ordered them in December and received them last week. There was always a excuse............. But other than that The Mukinis are great, easy to tune, great response (at least in the garage on jack stands) I do have a little engineering to do on the throttle linkage. The instructions to install mukins on a 250 are, they do work, figure it out yourself.....................

Took our first drive last week. The car runs great. I was a little disappointed in the acceleration, until I took it out of overdrive..... It runs nice and cool, the sound is great. The suspension is VERY stiff. I installed the stock springs with the monroe shock kit that bolts thrtu the frame and body. The rear end does sit a little high. Should I just wait to see if it will settle? or any ideas. I did fill up the gas tank full of fuel for weight.. Now it is time to rebuild the convertible top... and for what ever reason I can't download any photos.......

Dan,
Did you notice that the Mikunis have an accellerator pump when you step on the pedal? I noticed while hooking things up the mini. Should be interesting to see how it runs.

Dan,
Picked up CD2093LO Thursday in TN, been sitting in small garage since 1983. All fours wheels stuck. Took an hour and a half to load on trailer. Yesterday I pulled the raditator and fan to see if I could make the engine turn. I put a 24" pipe wrench and 6 ft cheater bar on it. It finally broke. Soaked with marvel mystery oil and turn few times by hand. Put a battery and it spin pretty good. Bad thing, only 75 psi per cylinder. Still going to try to crank today. I plan to rebuild later but would like see it run.

Hey Marv,

When I am working in Alabama I am in Coaling, about 2 hours south west of you. What does Northern British of Alabama have going on?

Here is CD8138C - all stock - I purchased out of Wyoming last year from the 2nd owner who had it for 37 years:

This is still in Colorado - have not yet brought any of my Triumphs to Alabama to keep me busy when not slaving away.

Anyway, do you still have some spare TR6 Exhaust Manifolds? I am getting ready to buy a Bell stainless exhaust and am trying to decide dual pipes or keep the single pipe, or if I should do a header. I'd like to hear opinions on this - one is that the Bell system is 60 bucks cheaper from British Stainless in dual pipes than stock, and probably breathes a little better with a header.
Also to the group, I need a Rostyle hubcap in good shape. Anyone have a spare? Send me a note, photo and price to StagByTriumph@triumphstagclub.org

Glen
Just now caught your post. Sorry, the Rostyles are gone and I have need of a set now myself. I guess Silverstones will fill the bill. I do have several TR6 manifolds if you need one, just PM.

Dan, didn't you paint your car Valencia Blue. I just picked up a VB car. Taking it all the way down as we speak, would you have the paint formula for the VB color.

Marv

Glenn
you will have a couple of rostyles caps tomorrow!
Marv
I will get you the VB info.

Hey Marv,

Manifold? Cool. I'll be back in Bama this week, I will PM you.

Tinman got me the caps I need for now, they cleaned up pretty good.
When I am done with my set of 6 I will let you know.
I am considering a set of chrome wires, Minilites or Panasports next, but not for a little while until I find the right deal.

Cheers!
