Hi,

I acquired a '65 non-irs TR4A last fall, and now that the temperature in the garage is above freezing, I'm ready to make some progress. All the mechanical stuff is in decent shape, the body is mostly solid, the floors and sills are shot, and the frame needs a lot more work than I expected. So I now have a used MIG welder and am practicing. This project should keep me busy for a while.

"Welcome" to "THEE" best Brit Car Forum anywhere. I too have a `65TR4 I just acquired about a month ago. Mine is a 2 owner, complete, Orig & quite solid example. Its my next project after the `57TR3 is completed (If I have any $$$ left)????????????

Hmmm, post some pics of the fine welding work you are attempting. I am just like you in regards to floor, sills and rocker panels. They are way past due for replacement.
Where did you pick up your welder from? I have thought about picking one up also, right now I am relying on a good friend that welds, to take care of that for me.

I snagged a used Lincoln SP125+ off Craigslist. It's maybe 10 years old, runs off 120 volts and has a continous power control instead of the 4 position switches they all seem to have now, which seems like a good thing. The guys at the weldingweb.com thoroughly disparage all 120 volt welders as toys, then grudgingly allow that they're fine for auto work.

A friend who welds ought to help out with the learning curve.
