Hello!

I joined this forum because this coming weekend I am flying to California to load and trailer the pieces of a 1960 Austin Healey Sprite from my in-law's house to mine here in Western Washington.

I am already a British car fan--I own a 1997 Land Rover Discovery--and I am taking this project on since my father-in-law decided he was not going to get around to finishing it himself. The car has been sitting in his garage for 23 years! He bought it, trailered it home, disassembled it, and that was that.

I don't know much about Bugeye Sprites outside of what I have researched on the Internet, so I will likely need a lot of help, guidance, and patience as I begin what will probably be a multi-year project to bring this little guy back to life.

I live on Bainbridge Island, just west of Seattle, with my wife and twin daughters.

Cheers!

- Chris

Hi There Chris,

"WELCOME" to the "WONDERFUL WORLD OF LBCs" on "THEE" best forum anywhere!

I sold a `59 Bugeye this past Dec. & Had alot of fun with the little car. These Little "Bugeye / Frogeye" are appreciating quite rapidly so; You`ve got Yourself a nice project. It surely sounds like a "Project"!

Since it sounds like the car has been "Dismantled"; Your ahead of the game relative to rust etc. You can clearly see what you have to work with.

Best Wishes & Ask away on the "Spridget" Forum. Post some pics of Your car when you get her.

Regards,

Russ

Hi Chris, Welcome. Don't be afraid to ask as many questions as you want. There are many years of knowledge here on this forum in all classes of British cars and everyone here is very willing to help with anything you need to know. As you become more familiar with the site, you'll notice that there is a forum thread just for your type of car. It's nice to know that another LBC is being saved from the crusher. Good luck on the restoration. PJ

There are actually quite a number of "Spridget" folks here in the Puget Sound area, you are in good company!
This forum is really active so stay in touch and ask any questions that you may have.
Welcome

Welcome aboard, Chris! You pro'lly noticed already, this ain't a "post a question, wait a week" kinda forum... most quieries get a response almost immediately. Ask away!

Welcome Chris! I once had a very late '60 Bugeye that had the rear deck area set back like the first Mk2 Sprites. My best friend also has one like that and they are the only 2 Bugeyes I've ever seen like that. Any pictures of yours?

Hey Chris...welcome!

You'll definitely find a wealth of knowledge available here just a few key strokes away. I know because I'm presently restoring a Healey BJ7 and am having to ask a few questions now and then of the experts.

I've been owned by a Bugeye since my high school days in Longview, Washington in the late 60's. After many years of driving pleasure it received a total restoration in 2004. It's in the family to stay. It and the BJ7 will be handed down to my sons.

Again, welcome.

Hey all,

Take a look at the initial pictures of the 1960 Bugeye.

https://bugeyechronicles.blogspot.com/2010/11/and-here-she-is.html

This is definitely a "project" and I will be posting individual part pictures as I begin to catalog them. Hopefully you can help me figure out what everything is and where I should start with my restoration plan!

Cheers!

That's a super clean car for a restoration project.
You should get a lot of help on the Spridget Forum here,as
there seem to be a lot of members in Washington.
