New member- Myster Car Yard find -Questions!

Alright, so it's exactly as it sounds. My friend, while working, found this car. The owner called it her husbands "Jaguar", and he took these pictures for me. He didn't have too much knowledge of the European sports car field so he assumed it was. We checked it over and over from those pictures, but Jag could not be used to describe it. Eventually I found my way to it being an Austin Healey, due to the seperated rear quarters and the very subtle surf line on the rear quarter as well. Also the bumpers and the slanted door area. But here are the mystery notes:
-She said Jaguar, so there had to be some tie to it being a Jag. It was her husbands car, and she may have misheard him, which brings me to my next point;
-It looks like, in the pictures (if you look VERY closely, it might be a twin cam engine with a drivers side exhaust/passenger carburetor. Could it be a swap? If so...
-A very obvious details, the door jamb area and hood. It looks like the door had an extra support installed, due to it being a convertible. The hood is also cut and modded to be a single piece front end, and I think I may see some metal tubing, which would bring back the possibility of a space frame/frame modification.
-My friend also said that there was A. a fiberglass hood, probably swapped for weight and racing, also proof of a speed mod, and B. No rust? Are these bodies, be it a 100/100m/3000/whatever, alloy or aluminum?
-The wheelbase also seems tighter than stock, which could be a reason from a suspension/drivetrain/axle swap when the frame was done?

So this is my theory all added together.:
At some point in life, her husband decided to buy a Austin Healey (Model # here), but then decided to modify the frame to handle a bit more power, swapped in a Jaguar XK6 engine and called it a day. This then he called his "Jaguar" due to the heart, and she eventually just thought it was a Jag.

Anyways, would this be worth pursuing? She doesn't want it anymore and from what it sounds like, it may be free. These are the best pictures I have, sorry! And thanks!

Hello, and welcome Tanner!

Oh my! That does look like it's becoming one with Mother Earth!

Thank you! And yes, yes it has!

That's a Jaguar steering wheel and with a twin cam engine it's probably a Jag, maybe XK120? Clearer pictures would help. Try posting it on the Jaguar section, maybe someone there can ID it.

See and that's the first thing I went to also, the steering wheel and the xk120 theory. The problem is the rear section doesn't match a 120, mainly because the trunk top is too deep, rather than pudging out like the 120.

Hi Tanner,

Wow; That indeed would be a "Project"!!!!

The "Rear Quarters" look like a "Healey" & also the "B" Pillars look like a "Healey". Are they "Steel or F`glass"??

The "Steering Wheel" appears to be a "Jag" but ?? I can`t see the Twin Cam engine.

Its possible that this car; (If the Rear Quarters are F`glass); maybe a "Saxon Replicar" but again ???

"FREE" is always a good price even if you "Parted" out various parts & sold them.

LOL, Russ

First on the Saxon detail: This is a very plausible perhaps. I wasn't able to find any names of any kit cars until you mentioned this. Thanks!

Also, here are some more details point out.
1:Gas cap, very faint but it is there, I finally just found it
2: Door, on other side of car. At least one door, anyways
3:Mystery Hinge?
4:Traced outline of the "twincam" or at least that's what it looks like to me, with the exhaust as well.
5:Mystery support brace???
6:Mystery panel? Could it be possible this was a custom panel made to cover the passenger side compartment? It is too round for a door.
7.Trees, in case you didn't see them :D

Is that #7 Big Tree growing right thru the car?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Wow!! Your a bigger man than me!!

But; "FREE" is still pretty good presuming you have a trailer to tow this thing & not have to pay someone to dig it out of the ground.

LOL, Russ

Yep! It's amazing what time does. It would be a cool photography opportunity!

And even if I don't haul it back (Cause I have no room, my current project takes too much room...) I still may take the engine, steering wheel, and bumpers as souvenirs :D

Yeah, It would make a pretty cool pic!!

The "Before" and then "After" shots would win you a door prize at "Moss Mtrs"!!

Have Fun no matter which route you take.

LOL, Russ

MORE DETAILS AND MORE MORE PICTURES:

Alright, my friend revisited and got some more pictures, just to add to the confusion!
Let's see if I can get the order right:
1: Front end. Definitely not Jaguar or Austin Healey. Triumph? Anyways, also if you look in the top right corner you can see the fiberglass hood scoop.
2: XK6 engine for sure. Not sure on year, but definitely Jag. You can also see the frame I was talking about, the tubing at the seam of the hood
3/4: Clearer shots of rear and side
5/6: Volv0 P544 just sitting upsidedown...
7: Badge!

The car is still a mystery, but it is MOST DEFINETLY a Franken-car

Boy, If you look at pic #4; You`ll see that the "Distance" from the "A" Pillar to the "B" Pillar is quite "LARGE"!!

What that means to me, (Thats not important), That the car is rotted out in half; At least!!

If it were me; I`d stay clear; Free or not!!

LOL & Merry X`mas.

Russ

WOW! I'm going out on a limb here. This guy started at least 4 projects and this is the pile of stuff he didn't use.
As much as I hate to see anything go to waste, let this go, of course if you are in to scrap metal, maybe $50 worth.
