New member- Myster Car Yard find -Questions!
Alright, so it's exactly as it sounds. My friend, while working, found this car. The owner called it her husbands "Jaguar", and he took these pictures for me. He didn't have too much knowledge of the European sports car field so he assumed it was. We checked it over and over from those pictures, but Jag could not be used to describe it. Eventually I found my way to it being an Austin Healey, due to the seperated rear quarters and the very subtle surf line on the rear quarter as well. Also the bumpers and the slanted door area. But here are the mystery notes:
-She said Jaguar, so there had to be some tie to it being a Jag. It was her husbands car, and she may have misheard him, which brings me to my next point;
-It looks like, in the pictures (if you look VERY closely, it might be a twin cam engine with a drivers side exhaust/passenger carburetor. Could it be a swap? If so...
-A very obvious details, the door jamb area and hood. It looks like the door had an extra support installed, due to it being a convertible. The hood is also cut and modded to be a single piece front end, and I think I may see some metal tubing, which would bring back the possibility of a space frame/frame modification.
-My friend also said that there was A. a fiberglass hood, probably swapped for weight and racing, also proof of a speed mod, and B. No rust? Are these bodies, be it a 100/100m/3000/whatever, alloy or aluminum?
-The wheelbase also seems tighter than stock, which could be a reason from a suspension/drivetrain/axle swap when the frame was done?
So this is my theory all added together.:
At some point in life, her husband decided to buy a Austin Healey (Model # here), but then decided to modify the frame to handle a bit more power, swapped in a Jaguar XK6 engine and called it a day. This then he called his "Jaguar" due to the heart, and she eventually just thought it was a Jag.
Anyways, would this be worth pursuing? She doesn't want it anymore and from what it sounds like, it may be free. These are the best pictures I have, sorry! And thanks!
