Colored type on a colored background is hard to read.
The font sizes are smaller and harder to see.
Have a good graphics person review with an eye towards effective communication.
NutmegCT said:If there's anything that needs a bit o' tweaking, it's that graphic at the top of the page. Couple things ...
1. the random ad on the top right seems like it's just been tossed in the corner; there's no frame or mask around the ad, so the images and text conflict with the new BCF graphic itself. At 1024x768 the ad is in a grey block, but the left side of the ad overlays the BCF graphic. At 800x600 the ad actually covers the right side of the BCF graphic.
2. I'm still puzzled by the "erased" image under the checker flag.
3. the "color bands" that run horizontally under the BCF graphic make it nearly impossible to read the text choices "British Car Forum - Main Home Page Β» Forums Β» General Discussions Β» The Pub Β» New Look - Discussion " etc just under the graphic. I can increase or decrease text size to give a temporary "fix", but when I move to another topic or forum, the text changes size again.
4. it may be my tired ol' eyes, but the blue text on a dark grey background is kinda tough to read. Bottom of page, the line beginning Moderator: etc. White would be much more visible on the dark grey. Can't find a way to change that blue/dark grey in the preferences; fortunately the combination is usually rare on the pages.
Other than these minor things, I still think it's a great new look.
