new idea on 5 speed?

This guy managed to shorten the shifter on his MOWOG gearbox. I'm sure the same can be done to a Ford gearbox.

The T9 trans can be found in the Mercury Mercur (an American-spec Sierra) here in North America. Not common, but not impossible to find.

What I keep wondering about is the Miata trans. They're excellent to shift, small (but long-ish), plentiful and cheap (and even a 6 speed is available).

I think similar to the second-gen RX-7....I don't know about the live axle cars.

The Miata is truly a wonderful little car. I'm not about to pull the transmission out of mine to do a fit check, though! The 6-speed manual was not available until the NB (1999 I believe).

The ad for my engine and trans appeared and dissapeared randomly today. it says:
1275 Spridget engine and Datsun 5-speed trans for sale, complete and ready to install except for driveshaft (uses Rivergate driveshaft adapter) $900.00 Engine smokes under hard acceleration but has lots of power. This is the engine that I bought to work out my own Datsun 210 5-speed adapter with. The adapter kits now work and I am about to put my original engine and spare 5-speed transmission into my car so the test engine is for sale with trans. The assembly is still in my car and driving well but it is time to do the swap.
