New file cabinet...in the twilight of my practice.

One of my two Hon file cabinets just fell apart, literally. Only 38 years old...dang, they don't make them like they used to. Anyway, since there is no longer an office supply place in my little burg, I went to the next city over (New Iberia) and checked out Office Depot. Yes, they had Hon. Woosh! Immediately thought about using cardboard boxes. Anyway, their store brand was somewhat cheaper and the guy said, made by Hon. Indeed, the mechanics were the same. So I ordered one to be drop-shipped. Tacked on another 39 bucks for delivery (won't fit in my Accord). Plus, to add insult to injury, they both were made in China. Hon used to be hecho in USA. America is going to [censored].

Silly! Of COURSE it won't fit IN the Accord. We hauled a five drawer one home ON the MGB. :jester:

YUP!

Please, please please don't take this wrong, but does anyone else see the irony in commenting about things being forign made, and then not being able to fit it in the Honda?
It just struck me funny.
Sorry Bill. I diden't mean it personal.
BTW good luck with the new cabinets.

Just remember that our little toys are not and never have been "American Made". They aint Chevies ya know.

Honda Accords are made in the US,at least for the North American market, as far as I know.
Also Hyundai Sonatas, some Nissan and BMW models.
Honda Civics are made in Canada,( Alliston, Ontario) and Toyota Corollas in Cambridge, Ontario.
Simon.

That don't seem to be helping, Dave.

Re: New file cabinet...in the twilight of my pract

Somehow this seems appropriate for this thread:...

How to use Your IRS Rebate check...
As you may have heard, each of us will be getting a tax rebate check to
stimulate the economy.
If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China . If
we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs. If we purchase a
computer it will go to India . If we purchase fruits and vegetables it
will go to Honduras , and Guatemala . If we purchase a good car it will
go to Japan . If we purchase useless stuff it will go to Taiwan and
none of it will help the American economy.
We need to keep that money here in America . The only way to keep that
money here at home is to spend it at Yard Sales, since those are the
only businesses left owned by Americans !!

Better:

RETIREMENT PLANNING FOR 2008

If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00.
With Enron, you would have had $16.50 left of the original $1000.00.
With WorldCom, you would have had less than $5.00 left.
If you had purchased $1000 of Delta Air Lines stock you would have $49.00 left.

But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling - - REFUND, You would have had $214.00.

So, based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

It's called the 401-Keg Plan.

Re: New file cabinet...in the twilight of my pract

I like that!! Perhaps shopping at yard sales, brew in hand would be the way to go!! A total "recycling" since you coulld redeem your cans at the recyclers and restock items for your own yard sale! The economy could be booming if we all did that!!! :jester:

Not all Arabs. Ya'll left me out.

On a similar vein, if everything you buy is made in your own country, this would harken back to America of yore. Or China today!
