I wouldn't be suprised if the car didn't lose weight with the swap. That's what I heard yrs ago when they were swapping v 8s into the big Healys.

I have a '73 Stag with a Ford 289 in it. It also has a Ford overdrive transmission. With this conversion, I have no doubt that it has lost weight. I also think that the gross weight of the Stag is less than what is shown on the TR6 tag. I can just confirm that IT GOES. The overdrive also gives it a really nice highway gear. With the power steering and power brakes, it ends up being a pleasant cruiser that has some extra oomph when you want it. The really attractive part is that the car is currently FOR SALE, at a price far far less than $22,000. I would really like it if someone here gave it a new home.

Clean look, it looks like one that was listed twice on ebay about 7 months ago. I cant get all the pictures to completely load up but I notice he is careful not to show the location of the shifter except in one picture----it is between the seats!!??, shifting with an arm and elbow bent back wouldnt be that cool. I have seen other conversions like this and the T-5 shifter location is too far back for the TR6, he probably had to take out the emergency brake or relocate it. Some of his (friend of the seller) answers to questions are a little cheesy, especially the last one where he says "if it was him he would have listed it under buy it now for $35,000 and it would still be a bargain". It could be a good buy for someone if it sell for less than 20k.

The conversion does look fairly well done, but after all of that it still uses lever shocks on the rear and must have some really 'nice' scuttle shake without a center dash support.
