The Army has air brakes on the new LMTV and MTV truck that are replacing the 2 1/2 and 5 ton vehicles
The truck air brakes I have worked on are spring actuators with air holding off the brakes. the pedal controls the amount of air dumped from the actuators. the park brake is an all or nothing air switch.
